Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 26, 2026

Overview

Admiral is a native macOS application that serves as a developer workspace. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, what we do not collect, and how the data we do collect is used.

Your Project and Conversation Data

We do not collect, store, or have access to your project files, source code, or conversation history. All of your projects, code, and chat conversations are stored locally on your machine. Admiral never transmits this data to our servers.

When you use AI features within Admiral, your conversations are sent directly from your machine to the AI service provider you are using (such as Anthropic's Claude or any other configured AI service). These communications happen between your device and the AI provider — Admiral does not act as an intermediary, proxy, or relay for these interactions. We do not have access to the content of these conversations.

Your use of third-party AI services is governed by each provider's own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any AI service you configure within Admiral.

App Analytics (Admiral for macOS)

Admiral uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics. This helps us understand how the app is used so we can improve it.

The analytics we collect include:

  • App launch events
  • Feature usage signals (e.g. project created, chat started, commit made)
  • Onboarding completion

The analytics we do not collect include:

  • Personally identifiable information (PII)
  • File paths, file names, or source code
  • Message or conversation content
  • API keys or credentials
  • IP addresses (TelemetryDeck does not store IP addresses)

TelemetryDeck is designed with privacy in mind and does not use cookies or track users across apps. For more information, see TelemetryDeck's privacy policy.

Website Analytics (admiralai.dev)

This website uses Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated data about page visits and web performance. Vercel Analytics is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information.

For more information, see Vercel's analytics privacy policy.

Local Data Storage

Admiral stores the following data locally on your Mac to provide its features:

  • Project references (folder paths and names)
  • Chat history and messages
  • App preferences and settings

This data never leaves your device and is stored using standard macOS frameworks (SwiftData and UserDefaults). You can delete this data at any time by removing Admiral from your system.

Microphone Access

Admiral may request microphone access for voice dictation in the chat input. Audio is processed on-device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework and is not sent to Admiral's servers. This permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in System Settings.

Software Updates

Admiral checks for updates using the Sparkle framework. This involves periodic requests to admiralai.dev to fetch the latest version information. No personal data is transmitted during this process.

Children's Privacy

Admiral is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
